Lucian Stained Glass – UWE Show

Popped over to “Crafts for All” in Bristol on Saturday to see Jude from Lucian Glass.

Although I had been to her glass studio in Bristol before, it was great to see everything up and displayed in one place.

The show was open to the general public and is held in the Exhibition & Conference centre, at the University of West England campus in Frenchay.  It’s like a mini NEC and there were over 100 exhibitors at the show.

It was still busy when we arrived around 4pm on the last day and unsurprisingly people were fascinated with her ability to not only create beautiful pieces but the skills to take on bespoke commissions.  For example, someone had commissioned Jude to create a glass panel from a photograph of their horse!  A very good likeness it was too!

Apparently, Jude is seeing more commissions coming from people who are installing modern double glazing units but who want to add a little individuality to them.

The other side of her business is the restoration and installation of original stained glass windows.  She’s even just finished filming for the BBC’s “Nick Knowles Originals” to be aired in the Autumn.

Looks like Jude’s business is going from strength to strength and we look forward to being able to work with her on framing her some of her pieces.

The Framer also fell in love with one of her pieces and took it home for a framing job of his own!

You can view more about Jude here and if you want to pop along and meet her in person, she’ll be exhibiting again at the Bristol Home Show in October.
